Hello
I tried the game 18 whos American Long Haul and I myself create trucks and trailers or others.... What tools do I need?
Can I use 3D Studio Max or Maya? What are the plug-ins for use with it?

Z-Modeler 2.1.0
Z-Modeler is the essential tool for editing any 3d model in the game. Extremely easy to use, compared to other 3d software.
WinRAR/WinZIP
WinRAR or WinZIP are absolutely necessary for creating the SCS files which will hold your mods! Get your hands on either one of these programs one way or another.
DXT BMP
DXT BMP is the best tool for importing and exporting DDS files, which are the textures. DXT BMP is freeware.
HEX Workshop
HEX Workshop is very useful for editing TOBJ files and PMD files, which you will have to do if you want to edit this game successfully to any noticeable degree. Get your hands on it by whatever means. Any HEX editor will also work!
VLC Player
VLC Player is a fantastic player and it plays OGG files. As does I think Windows Media Player, but VLC is nice and simple. I got mine from a friend, but I believe its freeware aswell.
Paint Shop Pro
Highly recommended as it is cheap to buy and easy to use
Photoshop
Photoshop is another graphics editing program, i use this as it is very powerful (once you have used it for a while) and makes editing images very easy.
Audio Converters
Audio converters will come in handy if you plan on changing any sounds. You need a converter from MP3 to OGG, or something which can record directly into OGG. It is a pain in the ass to find a good one, but enough Googling should yield decent results. I use DMC converter, it’s free with the exception of a 30-day trial on mp3 encoding.
Other T here are other tools you can use! This list is simply what I use and what I find very easy to use. Don’t restrict yourself to this list!

I have copy a mod from other author and a test to modifie only the paths in mods... Original is flc... Using Hex editor i have modified the material links to add a new truck... The game break at loading the truck...
This is content of package: If delete the material, the game runs... but the truck is all black...
Can help me???

Ok... The names fcargo is too large!!! Renamed to fcg the game load with no errors in one part of game... The next to solve is why the truck is fully black... The wips is out position ... This is a image of the truck mod in game... img293.imageshack.us/img293/3134/allblackxx3.jpg

that error normally shows up when a material cannot be found, may need to change the pmd or move the mat files to where it can be seen. i am having a look at the truck. is the model you posted above the original or the one you have modded?

Its modded... The new mod i decrease name lenght of folder... but all in scs file is the same.... The original mod in game (http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/875/originalmodob3.jpg) Its mod is not make or modified by me... I can't have the zmodeler 2.1.0 license to use ... well i just took a good look through it and it all seems wrong to me, the reason the truck only come out as a solid colour is there is no mapping on the textures there also no alpha channels. i think you should download the tutorial made by Ivan as it will explain a lot about modding the games. files.filefront.com/18wh+tutorialzip/;11145083;/fileinfo.html
